The Independent Audit Group Report on Cap Implementation

The Ministerial Council appointed an Independent Audit Group (IAG) in 1996 to establish the Cap and review its implementation. The IAG is independent in that its members are not part of any partner Government. As per the provisions of Schedule F to the Murray-Darling Basin Agreement , the IAG audits the implementation of Cap in each designated Cap valley in October each year. The IAG conducts Special Audit of any Cap valley in which diversions have exceeded Cap targets by an amount specified in Schedule F and submits its report to the Council through the Commission in the following March. The final report of the IAG also includes the formal response of the States and Territory Governments to the recommendations and other matters raised in the IAG report.
