Knowledge Investment Projects

The Murray-Darling Basin Commission invests in projects to generate knowledge to support Commission policy. These projects are funded under the Strategic Investigations and Education (SI & E) and the Statutory Policy Development (SPD) programs.

Projects are developed under the oversight of Program Knowledge Committees in accordance with the Commission's approved Natural Resources Knowledge Plan.

Current projects

Drylands Regions - Landmark Project
Landmark is a Murray Darling Basin Commission (MDBC) research project focusing on sustainable land use in dryland agricultural regions of the Murray Darling Basin. Landmark aims to identify, assess and map current land use and current recommended management practices for dryland agriculture against a range of sustainability criteria.
Further information on landmark projects is available at the landmark website at www.landmark.mdbc.gov.au

Dryland Regions - Watermark Project

Watermark is a group of projects funded by the MDBC which aims to make a significant contribution to the strategic development of sustainable irrigation practices in the Murray-Darling Basin through exploring irrigation issues, including delivering reliable irrigation data and information, improving irrigation water use and encouraging sustainable irrigation practices, and demonstrating environmental stewardship, while linking farm to catchment.

The Landmark website is now up and running at www.mdbc.gov.au/watermark

Further information about individual projects can be obtained from
