Introduction

Welcome to the seventeenth issue, the May 2008 issue, of The River - the Basin Kids eNewspaper. The River is a student-focused publication found right here online.

Once again, the feature articles in this issue of the eNewspaper are based on articles which appear in the monthly Murray-Darling Basin Commission's e-letter. Those thought to be of most interest and relevance to young people are edited and illustrated to make them of as much value to students as possible.

The buttons down the left-hand side focuses on different topics each month.

We hope you enjoy this issue of The River and we always welcome your comments and feedback.

We Welcome Student Reporters for The River eNewspaper!!!

We would like to hear about all the fantastic environmental projects you and your students are working on at school and in your local communities. We know there is a lot happening out there and we would like your students to tell us exactly what's happening and where.

Students may write a short piece (story or poem) telling us about an environmental project they are involved in and email it to: RiverEditor@mdbc.gov.au Students can also get their digital cameras snapping, and email us a picture with a caption (at least 72dpi please).

We would like to receive your students' environmental cartoons, illustrations and photos!

We would also like to receive your students' poems and short stories about the great environmental projects you know are happening around Australia!
