Welcome to the electronic version of the Native Fish Strategy Annual Implementation Report 2004–2005. This report, the second of its kind, details the significant achievements made toward achieving the objectives of the Native Fish Strategy (NFS) during 2004–2005.  The NFS is a long-term plan to rehabilitate the Murray-Darling Basin’s native fish populations and communities.

The report provides background to the NFS, details the progress made under each driving action, and summarises the roles, responsibilities and achievements of the groups that support the implementation of the NFS. The report also includes a summary of progress made in South Australia, New South Wales, Australian Capital Territory, Queensland and Victoria, as well as by the Community Stakeholder Group.

Despite being still in the early stages of implementation of the NFS, significant progress has been made. The commitment and dedication of the many stakeholders in the NFS as evidenced by this report provides great promise for its continued successful implementation and the rehabilitation of native fish in the Murray-Darling Basin.
