Algal Growth

This Algal growth model predicts the risk of nuisance blue-green algal blooms in weir pools. The model uses river flow, water turbidity and climate data, to estimate the likelihood of stratification in the water. While the water column is layered, the algal population in the model grows (up to a maximum), and when it is not layered, the modelled population decays (down to a minimum). The model is designed specifically for Anabaena circinalis, the most common toxic blue-green algae in the Murray-Darling Basin.
